Guttenberg Arts and the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop have brought together these Printshops and Bands so that New Yorkers can witness an incredible resurgence in affordable fine art printmaking and a glorious metal music scene.

In this episode Miranda speaks with Justin Sanz. Justin is the workshop manager at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City. He’s been involved with the institution for 15 years and he guides us through the fascinating life of Robert Blackburn, his contributions to contemporary printmaking, and the history of the workshop. We also talk about the ways in which those of us in the print world can recognize and address the history of racial inequality in the arts, how the workshop strives to honor the legacy of Robert Blackburn and his commitment to integration, and the ways in which they are keeping the shop going in the time of COVID and social distancing.
January 5th 2020- Master printer Justin Sanz leads a discussion about Betye Saar’s printmaking practice. This conversation is moderated by Esther Adler, an associate curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints.
